HM The Queen attends Plumpton Charity Race Day

Jamie’s Farm was honoured to welcome Her Majesty The Queen to the fourth annual Charity Race Day at Plumpton Racecourse.

Her Majesty spent part of the afternoon watching the racing and meeting alumni, staff and supporters of the charity, before presenting prizes to the winning connections of the third race, with crowds offering an enthusiastic welcome.

The Queen’s visit marked a meaningful return to familiar surroundings. Having spent much of her childhood living in Plumpton, Her Majesty has maintained a close personal connection to the area having also visited Jamie’s Farm Lewes in 2019, just a mile from where she grew up riding her pony through the surrounding fields.

The Charity Race Day at Plumpton was first conceived, and continues to be driven by, legendary British horse racing journalist Brough Scott MBE and a volunteer committee. The day raised over £53,000 for Jamie’s Farm – incredible!

“Brough’s remarkable passion since first visiting Jamie’s Farm Lewes, together with the support of his friends, has enabled Plumpton Race Day to raise vital funds for our work with young people over the past three years.
This year is especially exciting as we welcome our Patron, Her Majesty The Queen, fulfilling a long-held wish of Brough and the committee.”
