Jamie’s Farm, Monmouth
Welcome to the farm
Nestled above the stunning Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean is our third rural site, Duffields Farm. Our first location in Wales, Offa’s Dyke Path runs down the middle of our land and the English border hugs a stream along the farm’s boundary.
The farm is run on a small scale and in a sustainable way that enhances the ecology of the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean next door, and we are surrounded by amazing wildlife and nature. Our kitchen garden, with amazing views over the valley, provides us with a large proportion of the fruit and vegetables we eat. We have a small hillside woodland, which visiting young people help us to manage for our firewood and for green wood projects too.
Meet the team
From those who have visited Jamie’s Farm Monmouth
“It has offered a calm and positive space for the children to feel safe…”
“…the team have helped the children to grow in self-esteem, confidence and belief in themselves and trust in others. The kids have also grown to develop relationships with others and also started to form new friendships (even when they usually find social situations difficult). ”
“One of our students who has a very disrupted homelife…”
“…has experienced the welcoming family-like atmosphere of the farm and has really enjoyed it. He made an amazing bond with Sam the horse and has clearly felt very safe and supported by the wonderful staff. By the end of the week he was comfortable enough to talk about very personal things he has never discussed with adults before.”
“Ryan has grown in confidence enormously, last night around the campfire he said it had been one of the best weeks of his life…”
“…he started by saying ‘I can’t do it’ to an awful lot of ideas and challenges but he kept saying ‘I did it’ throughout. He has gone from a quiet child, who hides his head when called upon, to someone who makes jokes, laughs and projects his voice with a smile on his face. I truly believe this experience has changed his life for the better.”
