February has been a month of heartwarming reunions, new arrivals, and stunning natural beauty here at Jamie’s Farm Monmouth. We’ve welcomed back familiar faces and forged new connections, all while experiencing the wonders of the Welsh landscape.
Welcoming Old Friends and New Partners
We were thrilled to welcome back Mr. Taylor and his new school, Accrington Academy. His dedication to transforming young lives, inspired by his time at Jamie’s Farm, is truly inspiring. We also enjoyed hosting Farnborough Spencer Academy for their second visit of the year. Both schools brought enthusiastic young people who embraced farm life with open hearts and willing hands.
Farewells and New Arrivals
It was with a touch of sadness that we said goodbye to our beloved horses, Sammy and Timmy, as they embarked on a well-deserved retirement. However, we’re excited to introduce our new equine residents, Zita and Piya, hailing from Chile and Argentina. They’ve already settled in beautifully! Our new chickens are laying eggs with gusto, and we’ve welcomed two adorable British Saddleback weaners to the farm.
Braving the Elements and Discovering Beauty
February’s chill didn’t deter us from exploring the stunning Welsh countryside. Our hikes on the Skirrid, though bracing, rewarded us with breathtaking sunsets and panoramic views of the snow-capped Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). Despite the Siberian-like winds, the sheer beauty of the landscape left everyone speechless.
Transformative Journeys and Inspiring Growth
We were deeply moved by the return visit of a young person who attended Jamie’s Farm during lockdown. Though she found her initial experience challenging, she shared that it “changed her life forever.” Inspired by her time here, she pursued an animal care course and returned brimming with knowledge and determination. Seeing her personal growth and the realization of her potential is a testament to the transformative power of Jamie’s Farm.
