Welcoming SpeakerBox to the farm
We were thrilled to welcome a new partner this month, SpeakerBox, who represent the voices of care-experienced young people in Southwark. Ten young people, along with mentors and staff, jumped right into farm life: helping out with lambing, planting seeds in our newly reskinned polytunnel, and soaking in the beautiful views of the Black Mountains on a countryside hike. It was a week full of energy, learning and connection.
Bertha Earth: St John Bosco and nature connection in action
We also welcomed back our friends from St John Bosco School for a Bertha Earth Retreat. Their endless enthusiasm, curiosity and “yes” attitude were contagious, kicking off our summer term with such positivity and fun. Whether it was plunging into rivers, rolling down hills, or simply pausing to appreciate the birdsong and the trees, this nature-connected group truly embraced everything the countryside had to offer.

New growth in the garden
After a winter storm left its mark, we’re delighted to share that our polytunnel has been reskinned and restored! It’s been a brilliant opportunity to reimagine our garden spaces, and the young people have loved getting stuck into planting seeds, building new beds, and letting their creativity shine. We can’t wait to see everything bloom.
Farm life in full swing
Lambing has officially finished, and it’s a wonderful sight to see all our ewes and lambs happily out on the grass. Lambing never loses its magic, and sharing it with so many young people continues to be a truly special experience.
The weather has been kind, but the grass has taken its time, so our calves are still housed for now — hopefully not for much longer! Meanwhile, muck spreading is complete, and we’re busy planting 30 acres of herbal ley, setting the stage for even richer, diverse pastures to come.

A warm welcome to Hind
We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Hind, our newest team member, to Jamie’s Farm Hereford! After many years in teaching in London — and several trips to the farm as both a teacher and a residential volunteer — Hind brings a wealth of experience, insight and heart. We’re so excited to see her make the Therapeutic Coordinator role her own.
