Celebrating Peter Clegg’s OBE: Inspiration behind our homes

We are thrilled to announce that Peter Clegg, the founding Chair of Trustees for Jamie’s Farm, has been awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours List for his outstanding services to architecture. Peter’s exceptional contributions to sustainable design have not only helped to transform the architectural landscape but have also been instrumental in shaping the nurturing environments at Jamie’s Farm.

As a pioneer of sustainable architecture, Peter co-founded Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios in 1978, leading projects that emphasise energy efficiency and innovative use of materials. His work includes headquarters for environmental organisations such as Greenpeace, the National Trust, and the Woodland Trust, all showcasing passive design principles like natural ventilation and daylighting to reduce energy consumption.

Beyond his architectural practice, Peter has made significant contributions through his role as a Professor of Architecture at the University of Bath and his leadership as Chair of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, an independent charity and museum, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors a year.

At Jamie’s Farm, Peter’s architectural expertise has been pivotal in transforming our farms into welcoming homes enjoyed by thousands of children and young people. His vision has ensured that our spaces are not only functional but also embody the warmth and comfort essential for the wellbeing of our visitors.

Tish Feilden, Co-Founder of Jamie’s Farm, said “Peter brought to us his knowledge both of sustainable architecture and on governance as Chair of trustees, having years of experience working with other charitable bodies and thus making our journey from one to seven farms possible with his guidance, wisdom and good humour. We are delighted he is receiving his well-deserved OBE for a lifetime of generous contributions to making the world a better place”.

Reflecting on the award, Peter said: “I regard this honour as one which acknowledges the long history of the practice in promoting environmentally and socially responsible architecture. Architecture is a collaborative discipline, and the recognition needs to be shared by the hundreds of people over the years that have been part of the practice and the thousands of consultants, contractors, and clients that have worked on projects that have allowed us to explore a new approach to architectural design.”

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Peter on this well-deserved recognition. Jamie’s Farm would not be where it is today without him.
