Celebrating Apprenticeships at Jamie’s Farm

This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re celebrating the ways apprenticeships can open doors and help young people find their place in the world of work.

At Jamie’s Farm, we’re proud to offer apprenticeship pathways that allow young people to learn by doing, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive, nurturing environment while contributing to our impactful work with young people.

Our apprentices are an integral part of our farms and teams, both on and off the land. From outdoor learning and farming to marketing and communications, these roles provide meaningful opportunities to develop skills, grow self-belief and take confident steps towards the future. This week, we’re shining a light on four of our current apprentices and the journeys they’re on.

Ella: Outdoor Learning Instructor Apprentice

Ella joined Jamie’s Farm eager to work outdoors with young people and animals — and found a role that allowed her to do both. Just six months into her apprenticeship, Ella’s confidence, leadership skills and self-belief have grown enormously. She now plays a key role in building supportive relationships with visiting young people and helping deliver transformative experiences on the farm. Learning through hands-on experience in a caring environment has helped Ella discover her strengths and shape her aspirations for a future working with young people in outdoor settings.

Alex: Farming Apprentice

After completing a Level 2 apprenticeship on a large industrial dairy farm, Alex was ready for a new challenge. At Jamie’s Farm, he’s found a calmer environment and a close-knit team where no two days are the same. Alex has flourished in farm life, gaining confidence and stability while becoming a firm favourite with visiting young people. His apprenticeship has helped him reconnect with his love of farming and look ahead to a future working full-time on a farm doing what he enjoys most.

Abi: Farming Apprentice

Abi first came to Jamie’s Farm as a young person on a residential visit — an experience she describes as life-changing. Now a farming apprentice, Abi has already completed six months at our Monmouth farm and will soon move to Hereford to continue her journey. Her apprenticeship has given her hands-on experience of working farm life alongside opportunities to support young people. For Abi, this role has been the vital first step into a farming career she feels passionate about, offering a sense of purpose, pride and belonging.

Tabitha: Marketing Apprentice

Tabitha chose an apprenticeship as an alternative to university, looking for hands-on experience within a purposeful organisation. At Jamie’s Farm, she’s found exactly that. Just a few months into her marketing apprenticeship, Tabitha’s confidence has grown alongside her skills, supported by a collaborative and encouraging team. From supporting fundraising campaigns to capturing moments on the farm, her role offers variety, creativity and meaning — and has sparked a strong interest in building a future career within the charity sector.

Thank you

Our apprenticeship programmes exist because of the commitment and generosity of our funders and supporters. Your support helps create practical pathways into work for young people, giving them the opportunity to develop skills, confidence and experience in real-world settings. This National Apprenticeship Week, we thank you for enabling these opportunities and helping young people take their next steps.
