Work Experience

We are occasionally able to offer work experience placements if you have participated in a Jamie’s Farm Programme (at either our residential Farms or at Oasis Farm Waterloo), are under 18, and would find the experience useful to your future career. For some this might be shadowing our Farm Manager; for others helping with groups of younger children; for others being based within our administrative team learning about the communications, fundraising or financial side of the charity. We find young people coming for work experience also provides a fantastic support to new groups of young people coming through our programme.

Please be aware the weeks in which we can offer work experience are quite limited due to the nature of the groups we work with, and we regret we are not always able to offer you the experience even if we felt you were really suitable.

If you have any questions, please email .

  • Have you been on the Jamie’s Farm residential programme and succeeded on the back of it?
  • Are you keen to work in farming, animal care, forestry or outdoor education in the future?
  • Are you interested in gaining a qualification to make that dream more of a reality?
  • Do you have the passion and work ethic to commit to supporting other young people to benefit from being part of the Jamie’s Farm programme?

If so, the Jamie’s Farm Apprenticeship could be for you…

We run an apprenticeship scheme, currently at our farms in Bath and Lewes. The course runs for 12 months, starting in September. The scheme allows us to provide deeper support to those who have been through the Jamie’s Farm programme, in an effort to equip you with more skills and a qualification to help you thrive in later life.

We have now recruited our 2021 apprentices. If you are interested in applying next year, please sign up to our newsletter or follow us on social media to hear when recruitment opens in 2022.

The Fun 5K

If you have visited Jamie’s Farm before and loved the daily walks in the countryside, then we have the perfect challenge for you! Why not take part in our Fun 5K challenge where we encourage you to get outside – into green spaces if you can – and walk, jog or run 5K with some friends or family. Green spaces could be your local park or sports field, but don’t worry if you don’t have any near you, just getting outside with others is the main idea!

You can sign up using our GivePenny page and record your 5K distance a bit at a time, or all in one go, using apps like Strava (you don’t need to run the whole 5K at once!). If you don’t have any apps you can use to measure your 5K distance, then why not measure it in time instead? A 5K would usually take around an hour to walk at a fast pace, or you could do four 15-minute walks instead. Take part today and become a Jamie’s Farm 5K Champion.

Feeling social? Tag us in your posts using the hashtag #takingpart and we will share your 5K on our page.

If you’d like to raise money for Jamie’s Farm as part of your Fun 5K, we’d be delighted – you could be sponsored for your achievement. Our GivePenny page has tons of amazing and new ways for you to do this. It’s really simple, just share your GivePenny page with your sponsors.
