What is the Big Give?
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is a nationwide 7-day fundraising campaign where all donations made to Jamie’s Farm will be generously matched. If you love what we do and would like to donate, this is the best time to do so as your donation will be doubled as part of the campaign.
How does it work?
Now until midday 6th December, all gifts to Jamie’s Farm (made via our page on the Big Give website) will be DOUBLED. We have a target of £50,000 to reach, which will be doubled to make £100,000 of vital support to help Jamie’s Farm reach more multiply-disadvantaged young people than ever. But we need your help to make this happen.
Why donate?
Many vulnerable families will be stretched to breaking point this winter, as the cost-of-living crisis disproportionately impacts those that are least equipped to shoulder the burden. With inflation at a 40-year high and soaring energy costs, some parents and carers will be having to ask; heating or eating?
Those within the communities and schools we support will be amongst the most affected. Single parents and families on low or insecure incomes often face either restricted or more expensive arrangements such as prepayment meters, higher-cost credit, or being unable to buy everyday goods in bulk. Black, Asian and other minority ethnic households are expected to experience an average increase in the cost of living 1.6 times higher than those from white households. There is huge concern around the level of food insecurity threatening families, with the number of children eligible for Free School Meals having almost doubled since 2019.
Young people experiencing poverty are vulnerable to increases in depression, anxiety and behavioural problems, causing disastrous long-lasting effects on their learning and education.
We continue to focus our efforts on some of the most vulnerable groups, supporting young people to make changes that can have a big difference to their outcomes. Your donation will help bring our transformative ‘Farming, Family, Therapy, Legacy’ Programme to 2,000 young people this year – more than ever before.
