We are delighted to have our visiting groups back after a short break. During September we’ve welcomed some of our long-standing partners.
Cardiff High School were greeted with new life on the farm as our Jersey cow, Polly, gave birth to a happy and healthy bull calf. This group really stood out for their practical abilities and support for each other, particularly when faced with a torrential downpour on an evening walk. Thank goodness for wellies and waterproofs!
Teamwork shone through with our young people from Harris City Academy Crystal Palace. They worked with determination and focus as well as bringing lots of joy to the farm. Highlights included moving our lambs onto our herbal leys, transporting logs to the farm from our woodshed and we ended the week with a fantastic fried chicken feast!
The final week in September, we welcomed back Carew Academy. These young people showed us real bravery, resilience and energy during their time on the farm. Amazing efforts by all.
Our garden continues to thrive and is providing us with fantastic produce to harvest, including some plums that our visitors used to make a delicious crumble, perfect for our team-time treat.
We’re happy to update that the Farmers’ Cabins are really coming along! If you’ve not yet heard about this project, let us fill you in. We’re always innovating to support thousands of children and young people each year. It takes sufficient funds to do this.
The Farmers’ Cabins at Jamie’s Farm Monmouth are two beautifully crafted cabins, designed by architect and long-standing trustee of the charity, Roderick James. These will be let out on Airbnb and will provide a sustainable income stream, reducing our reliance on Fundraising.
You can follow along with our incredible carpenter, Sebastian, and keep updated on the build on Instagram. Follow @thefarmerscabins.
