Since the first pilot visits back in 2006 I have had the privilege of listening to the voices of more than 4000 children. Hearing them speak about their lives, their trials and tribulations, has taught me more than the previous 25 years practising as a teacher originally, and then a psychotherapist. Children seem to move away from their protective, disgruntled selves towards positivity, cheerfulness and helpfulness. They can demonstrate care and concern in the space of a few days if given the right circumstances. Their stories have taught me both about the ways and means in which they have had to adapt to difficult lives, but also how they are self aware and seek to change. I feel privileged to have shared so many life stories and lessons, and in these podcasts I attempt to draw together my understanding to offer professionals some strategies and insight when dealing with different children.
