Portrait of Mark

Mark Carnie

Farm Manager
Jamie's Farm Skipton

From the moment he could toddle, Mark was straight into farming – he was tasked from an early age with looking after the pet lambs from his family’s flock of sheep, even making a star appearance on Teletubbies! His childhood continued to be spent in the fields and barns of his family farm near Bath, caring for various cows, sheep and dogs. Nowadays, Mark does all the jobs which keep our Skipton farm thriving, which often means working night and day.

His favourite moments are towing a trailer full of young people on the back of the quad bike, helping staff and students alike to experience the mess and joy of lambing, and working with groups of visitors and his superstar sheepdogs to round up the sheep. Mark loves the outdoors and wildlife and is trying to create a farm that is both profitable and works alongside nature, in the summer months, Mark can be found fishing in the local rivers and even diving into the natural swimming pool on the farm. Mark is a whizz at identifying bird song, if you hear a bird on the farm, you can test his skills.
