Flavian Obiero

Trustees

Flavian moved to the UK aged 15 with his family. He studied Animal Management at Sparsholt College before he was offered a job as an Assistant Unit Manager on a college pig farm in East Sussex. Flavian went on to manage the unit 4 years later following a brief 18 months hiatus from farming to work in the animal feed industry.

Flavian now manages a pig herd in Hampshire, on the farm which opened the door for his UK agricultural journey 12 years ago. He is now involved in the whole process, from rearing the animals to butchering them once a week at the farm’s butchery.

Flavian first heard of Jamie’s Farm when he sold a sow to their Lewes farm. He was instantly drawn to what the farm was doing in giving opportunities to young people from different backgrounds a chance to experience the countryside. Flavian is a member of the NFU Next Generation Forum. Increasing diversity in British agriculture is one of his passions making this a perfect opportunity for him to inspire some of the young people to hopefully pursue a career in agriculture.
