We’ve had an exciting start to 2025 here at Jamie’s Farm Hereford!
School visits
We kicked off the year with Cheltenham Bournside School, whose young people got hands-on feeding our new calves, tidying storm damage, and even heading to market with our Farm Manager, Warren. A sunny climb up the Cat’s Back was a highlight of the week!
North Birmingham Academy followed with an equally energetic group, helping settle in our piglets and splashing in the stream at the nature reserve where our sheep are currently grazing.
A special visitor
Before Christmas, we were thrilled to host the High Sheriff of Herefordshire, Patricia Churchward, who visited to see our programme in action. She was amazed by the hard work of the young people, the stunning environment, and the real farming jobs taking place. We’re excited to grow this partnership further.
Farm updates
On the farm, we now have 22 lively calves and 3 new Berkshire piglets. Our sheep, freshly pregnancy-scanned, are happily grazing a wildflower meadow with the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust before returning to the farm for lambing.
Storm Darragh left us with significant cleanup work, including damage to our polytunnel, chicken shed roof, and horse shelter. However, we’re grateful our main buildings were unharmed, and the farm remains ready to host transformative visits for young people.
Welcoming Sevan
While Alicia is on long-term leave, we’ve welcomed Sevan Nigogosian to the team. Sevan, a local artist and former art teacher, has already wowed us with his incredible sculpture sessions, inspiring young people to create art using textures and materials found around the farm. We’re excited to see more of his creativity in the coming months.
Thank you for your continued support—here’s to a great year ahead!
