Bringing Jamie’s Farm to you
While the government restrictions are in place to help keep everyone safe during the Coronavirus pandemic, we have put together lots of updates and activities to help bring Jamie’s Farm to you! We are really sad that we have had to temporarily close our farms, but we can’t wait to re-open and welcome young people and teachers as soon as it is safe to do so.
Whether you have been to our farms before or have heard about it from your school, see below to hear our favourite riddles and jokes, updates from our farmers and animals, and cooking tutorials based on some of the tasty recipes from the Jamie’s Farm cookbook and much more…
Check-in with Jamie’s Farm
If you are finding this time difficult or missing friends and feeling isolated, it can help to find someone to talk to. The Jamie’s Farm team is still here for you to check-in with, to hear how you are, and to keep you up to date with the farms that you may have visited. If you would like to check-in with a member of staff you connected with on the farm, e-mail us on check-in@jamiesfarm.org.uk and let us know a couple of people from the farm that you would like to speak to again.
This is a very difficult time for a lot of people and we really hope that you’re coping with the situation. We have found using the Five C’s as a framework a helpful way to feel positive.
Constructing a healthy routine: Make a plan on how you would like your day to look, what will you do and when? Everyday on the farm we think about what needs doing, what comes first, do I have the tool to do the job, how long will it take, and when will I need a break?
Connecting with good people: Make contact with someone who matters to you and let them know how you are doing. Talking to friends and family will help keep you going and give you energy for the rest of your day. Watch the video to hear how you can contact and check-in with Jamie’s Farm.
Challenging yourself to do something different and something hard: Do something that you can feel pleased you achieve, perhaps something you might usually put off or avoid. It could be going for a walk, tidying your room or cooking a meal for your household.
Be Creative and try new things: Make something new like a writing a song or drawing a picture. Try changing things up, such as moving your bedroom around or walking a different route to the shops.
Celebrating the good you have achieved: On the farm we make time each day to recognise something we’ve achieved or a positive quality we have demonstrated. Stop and think what you have done today and feel proud – perhaps you were kind to your sibling or helped unpack the shopping.
