The farm has had an exciting and busy start to the year with some wonderful groups joining us from Chelsea Academy, The Charter North Dulwich School, The Costello School, Harris Academy St John’s Wood and Carew Academy. We have seen so much resilience in some cold and wet weather, with fun still being had rolling down hills. It has been fantastic to see young people reflecting on themselves with honesty and bravery and voicing what they need to reach their goals, with some young people even contributing their input to one of our recent podcasts. They have also been proud of trying new foods, helping stack huge deliveries of wood to the farm, and making a large sheep move run smoothly. This week we welcomed young men from Young Roots with whom it was a wonderful exchange of knowledge, cultures, language and food with lots of laughter, music, dancing and competitive games!
The young people have been fantastic at helping with the start of our lambing season. Thanks to the eagle eye of one of the young people, we witnessed the first lambs being born! With nearly all of our February lambs arriving into the world and our piglets being born, the farm has indeed been a hive of activity. We have also had a new addition to our horse therapy team with Ginger the Shetland pony joining our existing herd here. She’s already a hit with the young people appreciating her good looks and perfect size for cuddles!Â
This week we enjoyed our first outdoor pizza lunch of 2023 in the February sunshine, the first in a while. Looking ahead, we are looking forward to welcoming new groups to the farm to enjoy this special time as we slowly emerge from winter and approach spring!
