As spring flourishes around us, we’ve loved welcoming old friends, new faces, and, of course, lots of new life to the farm!
Welcoming our visiting groups
We were thrilled to kick off the month with a visit from our long-standing partners at Heathside. The young people threw themselves into farm life, caring for our new-born goats, soaking up stunning sunsets on our daily walks, and helping to build our new farm shop. Their energy and enthusiasm set the tone for a fantastic start to the season.
It was also a joy to welcome back East Sussex Virtual School, who brought a wonderfully diverse group of young people. We loved learning about farming techniques from around the world and sharing delicious meals inspired by different cultures, a beautiful reminder of the richness that each individual brings to our community.
Later in the month, we hosted Meridian High School, whose group of young people were a massive help as lambing came to a close. They got stuck into clearing out pens, feeding new-born lambs, and were lucky enough to witness the birth of our very first Aberdeen Angus calf of the year, an unforgettable experience for everyone.

Springing into new life
April has been busy and full of life across the farm. Thanks to the hard work of all involved, and a special shout-out to Charlotte, this year’s lambing has been a huge success. Our lambs are now out in the fields, enjoying their first taste of sunshine and green pastures.
Beyond lambing, our goats have kidded happily, and the first Aberdeen Angus calf is thriving. Meanwhile, Nia (Our Agroecology Specialist) visited last week to support our soil health projects, ensuring the land stays rich and healthy for years to come. In our apiary, Ahmed has been hard at work re-queening the beehives, with young people playing a key role in caring for our growing colonies.

Growing our green spaces
We’re also delighted to welcome new volunteers into our gardens. Their wide range of experience is already making a wonderful impact, and we’re so lucky to have them joining our community.
Looking ahead: Open day on the 21st May!
We’re really looking forward to opening our gates for our upcoming Open Day on 31st May. It will be a fantastic opportunity to connect with our local community, showcase all the amazing work happening on the farm, and celebrate the season together. We can’t wait to see many of you there!
