Spring is in full swing here at Bath, and with it has come a wonderful season of new life, growth, and connection.
Spring continues at Jamie’s Farm Bath, where we’ve wrapped up lambing season and are looking forward to summer!
Welcoming schools and growing confidence
This term, we were delighted to welcome Cox Green School, with students getting hands-on from the moment they stepped onto the farm, right in the heart of lambing season! We also had a fantastic week with our brilliant returning partners from Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA), who threw themselves into everything from mindful photography to rolling out bales for our cows and calves.
Bertha Earth Retreat
After the Easter weekend, we hosted the first of our Bertha Earth Retreats, a week full of challenge, collaboration, and celebration. Highlights included bonding with our horses and lambs, splitting and sawing wood for the biomass boiler, and planning a spectacular final night feast and bonfire. The energy, creativity and sense of community were simply infectious.

New life on the farm
We’ve officially finished calving and are just three sheep away from completing lambing. It’s been a hugely successful and joyful season, with many young people sharing in the magic of new beginnings.
We’re also eagerly awaiting two litters of piglets and have goose eggs incubating, so the excitement continues! Out in the fields, we’ve been busy planting grass seed and slitting fields at Lower Shockerwick to improve soil health and drainage, helping set the stage for a flourishing summer. The farm is bursting into life with lush grass, colourful wildflowers and blossoming trees.
Volunteers making a difference
We were thrilled to have Benjy Clarke join us as a residential volunteer, coming down from his usual day volunteering in Skipton. His energy, positivity, and commitment made a real impact on the young people — and we certainly missed him when he returned up North!
This week, a wonderful group of volunteers is also helping us get the gardens in shape, planting beds and tidying borders, adding even more colour and vibrancy to the farm.
Special visits and little lambs
Finally, we were delighted to host visits from Mulberry Garden Nursery and Box Primary School, who loved experiencing the joys of the lambing shed firsthand. The laughter and wide-eyed wonder of the children were a real treat for all of us!
