Welcome to the first Jamie’s Farm Hereford update of 2024! We hope that you’ve been enjoying a great start to your year.
Our year began with a series of fantastic visits, starting with the return of Cheltenham Bournside. They selected a brilliant group where horses played a pivotal role in fostering connection and building confidence amongst the young people. The unconditional love of animals, especially horses, has a profound impact on our visitors, providing a meaningful experience.
Co-op Failsworth enjoyed beautiful crisp winter frost during their visit. This was the first dry week on the farm in what feels like months. There was absolutely gorgeous views from our Wednesday hike, and we had lots of fun cracking icy puddles. The expansive blue sky of winter added to the magic of the experience.
We also enjoyed a slightly different week with The Family Place, working alongside young people and their families. This group were unphased by Storm Isha, with both young people and adults alike embracing the farm and all the new experiences to be had.
It was lovely to reconnect with Esteem South Academy for their follow-up visit, taking place 6 weeks after their time at our farm. The group enjoyed watching the film our team had put together that illustrated their week on the farm last term alongside a dog walk around the school site with much loved pooch, Bonnie. The young people were celebrated individually, with lots of time for questions about the farm and nostalgia about the week they had embraced.
We’re thrilled to announce that our lovely Senior Therapy Coordinator, Jess, gave birth to a beautiful baby boy (on his sister’s birthday, no less) this January! 7.8lb of baby joy. Jess, we miss you but we cannot wait to meet him!
While Jess is on maternity leave, we are thrilled to welcome Beth to the farm. Beth has worked at Jamie’s Farm in different capacities since 2017, and is excited to take on this new role with the Hereford team. She brings with her incredible knowledge and experience of working therapeutically, alongside a brilliant understanding of horses.
