HRH The Duchess of Cornwall at Jamie’s Farm
Jamie’s Farm welcomed HRH the Duchess of Cornwall on 3rd April 2012. We were so pleased to be able to celebrate the success of the charity with the Duchess, and to have such a great representation of all our different supporters including community members and neighbours, head teachers, funders, investors, trustees, volunteers, staff, farmers and of course children on the day. The Duchess met with children from Burlington Danes Academy in White City, who demonstrated their skills in farming, horse whispering, carpentry and art before sharing with her their cooking and a cup of tea in our recently converted barn.
The organisers from HRH household said of the event: “All the young people were a credit to you and it was so good to meet them. Raage was super efficient with the coffees and refreshments and Ahmed’s horse demonstration was truly wonderful. To be able to see piglets and lambs too was just a delight. I wish you continued success with Jamie’s Farm – it is an inspirational place and one from which many children will receive a wonderful life experience.” We were particularly impressed by how our visiting children presented themselves and were interviewed by the large number of press present.
The event received tremendous positive press, including coverage on the BBC website and news, BBC Radio Wiltshire and on theITV news, as well as articles in the Western Daily Press, Wiltshire Times and the Daily Mail. In May 2012 we will celebrate three years since the registration of Jamie’s Farm with the Charity Commission, and will welcome our 1000th visitor on site this Spring, and the Royal Event has been another huge landmark in the life of the charity. We hope that this publicity will mean as many vulnerable children as possible may benefit from Jamie’s Farm in the future.
